Criteria for Professional Competence
1. INTRODUCTION
This rule was made by resolution of the HRINZ Board pursuant to sections 26 (2) and 6(3) of the constitution. Amendments to the rule took effect on 1 September 2000.
2. GRADING PANEL
- The Grading Panel shall be a committee formed by the HRINZ Board under section 19(1) of the Constitution and shall be responsible for the administration of the Institute's membership grading system in accordance with the constitution and any decisions of the Board.
- The Board shall appoint not fewer than five professional members, at least three of whom shall be Fellows, to be the members of the Grading Panel. In making such appointments, the Board will ensure that the majority of members of the Grading Panel are practising human resource professionals. In addition, where possible, the appointments shall include one professional member who had recently applied for professional membership.
- The Board shall appoint one member of the Panel, who is a Fellow, to be the Convenor of the Grading Panel.
- As far as possible, the Grading Panel shall conduct its business by correspondence.
3. PROFESSIONAL MEMBER
On the recommendation of the Grading Panel, the Board may confer the designation of Professional Member on any member who is able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and skills and experience in Generalist or Specialist roles in the fields of human resources management.
4. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
In determining whether a member's knowledge and skills are sufficient for professional competence, the Grading Panel shall have regard, in general terms, to the Institute's Framework for the Professional Development of Human Resource Practitioners and, in particular, to the definitions of the five HRINZ HR competencies.
