Career Development initatives
‘Partnering the profession’ – that’s what we do – being there with you, our Members – providing membership benefits.
The Career Development Programme had been set up to examine membership benefits as a whole.
The programme proposes new ways to support you, and this entailed a complete career development package that starts when a member joins and continues through with the member until retirement.
Since the beginning of the project, a number of new initiatives have been created and implemented with the EEP nearing completion.
These following measures will enhance membership benefits:
- The creation and introduction of our HRINZ Career Development Framework page, which highlights how all our membership services such as our Career Log, Mentoring, Coaching, Education Endorsment and Professional Accreditation programmes are interlinked and work in conjunction with our HRINZ competencies.
- The introduction of What is Coaching and What is Mentoring pages that provide information for our members to understand the differences between these two learning methods.
- The re-design and re-launch of the HRINZ Coaching Directory
HRINZ members will be able to access a directory of available coaches in your area.
Please note that HRINZ is not endorsing any of the people listed, but is merely providing a means to identify and to contact HRINZ Professional Members who provide consultancy and coaching services.
- The creation of the HRINZ Consultants Directory.
This directory identifies Professional Members of HRINZ who provide professional consultancy and contract services in the practice of Human Resource management.
The purpose of providing a Consultants Directory is to assist members and their organisations who may be seeking the services of external or internal consultants and contractors
- The creation and launch of our online HRINZ Career Log (C-Log) which was released on 24th October 2008.
The HRINZ CareerLog (C-Log) is part of HRINZ Career Development Programme, which will assist members to track, record and manage their ongoing Professional Development.
- The re-design and re-launch of the HRINZ Knowledge Base.
We have used a ‘one stop shop’ approach to provide HRINZ members and Human Resource (HR) professionals with practical advice, guidelines and tools that can be used when dealing with day-to-day issues of Human Resource Management in a quick and easy manner.
- The establishement of the Education Endorsement Programme, where members will be able to find suitable academic and educational courses to develop and enhance their HR knowledge against the HRINZ competency framework.
- Check out the HRINZ HR Competencies for Professional Accreditation, which enables members to self assess themselves against the HRINZ benchmarks for applications for Professional Membership.
- Anyone considering joining the profession, anyone in the profession and any member, can call the HRINZ National Office, Career Centre and get pointed in the right direction. This position is filled by the Manager - HR Careers & Education.
Or you can view the following information such as HR Job Families or HRINZ Remuneration Survey's or further information on getting a career started in HR, click here.
- Given the mobility of members, we are working on strategic career partnerships with HR organisations in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
- Continuing to develop our links with tertiary education providers and so we attend careers fairs and orientation days and encourage student participation. We have produced a careers flyer ‘ Your career in HR starts HERE’ And launched an HR Educators Newsletter and an HR Students website.
- Finally, we established an electronic ‘Community of Interest’ so that members with common interests will be able to communicate electronically with each other on a discrete site within the HRINZ website.
