HRINZ Postgraduate Scholarships 

The Human Resources Institute of New Zealand (HRINZ) has made a commitment to work more closely with the academic community in New Zealand by offering Postgraduate Scholarships to students completing postgraduate study and research in HR Management.

Since 2005, HRINZ has offered up to five scholarships per annum to full or part time students studying HR Management at a postgraduate level. 

HRINZ has deferred offering Scholarships for the 2012 year and is currently reviewing the total package for postgraduate research conducted. The HRINZ Research and Publications Committe will undertake the review, define the future criteria for research topics and funding applied.

The 2011 HRINZ Postgraduate Scholarship winners were:

  • Sakib Khan, Auckland University of Technology
    Research topic: HR Devolution: Rhetoric or Reality?
  • Anthea Finlay MHRINZ, Victoria University of Wellington
    Research topic: Trial Periods in NZ – Are they exploiting vulnerable workers or aiding them? An exploratory study on young low skilled employees and their experiences entering the labour force.
  • David Brougham, University of Waikato
    Research topic: Support for culture in the workplace: A study of minority groups within New Zealand
  • Emma Gordon, University of Auckland Business School
    Research topic: How can innovation be used as a measure of performance and how are HRM rewards systems used in organisations to help encourage innovation?
  • Christian Yao, Massey University
    West meets East: The impact of international assignments on Chinese expatriates in Aoteoroa/New Zealand.
