Professional Membership Application Process

HR PRACTITIONER

1. HRINZ HR Competencies

Familiarise yourself with the HRINZ HR Competencies - you will need to provide examples of how your contributions and outputs are measured against them.

2. Update your CV

HRINZ recommends that you have an up-to-date CV that you can refer and use. If you have completed the Employment History section in your Career Log you can use this information.

3. Meeting or exceeding the HRINZ Benchmark Totals

Complete the HRINZ Benchmark form on the application page (see Forms). Once completed, your experience totals for each role will have been automatically tallied allowing you to make a comparison between your "Totals" and the HRINZ Competency Benchmark totals. If your "Totals" have met or exceeded the HRINZ Benchmark totals, please complete the HRINZ CV Template document. If your totals do not met the required HRINZ Benchmark totals, look for career development options and opportunities to increase your knowledge, skills, competence and experience in the areas required to meet the expected criteria.

HRINZ CV Template Form

The HRINZ CV template will provide the Practitioner Grading Panel further information about how you have demonstrated your knowledge, understanding and application of the HRINZ competencies. Download the Professional Membership Application HRINZ CV Template (see Forms) to complete.

5. Finalising your application before submission

Check that the information provided in your CV and HRINZ Benchmarks are aligned and your work history is measured against the HRINZ HR Competencies. Insufficient or incomplete information submitted may result in your application being declined by the Practitioner Grading Panel.

6. Submitted Applications for Professional Accreditation

The Practitioner Grading Panel will review your application. You will keep you informed regarding the progress of application and may seek further information or clarification.

The Practitioner Grading Panel's decision is recommended to the HRINZ Board for ratification. The period of time from receipt of your application to final decision typically takes four to eight weeks to complete the process.

If your application is successful, you will be informed of the decision by letter from the HRINZ National President.

If your application is unsuccessful, you will be notified by letter of the Practitioner Grading Panel's decision setting out the reasons why your application was declined. The Practitioner Grading Panel will identify the areas for further development and offer solutions to you to enable you to achieve approval status and invite you to submit another application once you have met the criteria as required.

Unsuccessful applicants have the right to appeal against the Practitioner Grading Panel's decision.
