Dr Williamson is an interactive presenter, who uses a combination of formats to engage participants: lectures/discussions, case studies, role plays and theoretical frameworks. His teaching is based on providing hands-on, logical outcomes with immediate operational benefit. The course aims to provide senior leaders with a number of key messages around talent management that they will be able to apply immediately in their own teams and practice units.
Introduction
There is growing agreement that in a global economy, characterised by customisation, speed, and innovation, organisations’ ability to effectively manage human and social capital is key to developing a sustained competitive advantage. Human capital represents knowledge, skills, and abilities while social capital refers to the resources embedded in relationships. Both are necessary to implement the strategy of an organization. However, unlike other forms of capital, such as financial capital and physical capital, human capital and social capital are not owned by companies but resides within the organization’s employees.
This course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the strategic role that human resource management plays in providing firms with sustained competitive advantages by unlocking the productive potential of employees’ human and social capital. The course will focus on two broad domains. First examining the link between strategic human resource management and firm performance outcomes. Second, identifying and developing the leadership behaviours needed to effectively implement key human resource management practices.

Comments
"(Ian Williamson) ran 2+ days of the HR Executive Programme that I attended at Mt Eliza last November, and he was by far the hi-light of the programme.”
"...a short note to say how valuable the programme was and how well it ran. Thank you for the organisation efforts! This is one the most useful programmes I have been on in a long while. Ian was fantastic for many reasons and I am sure the survey I am about to complete will provide an opportunity to expand more definitely on how and why!"Jennifer Lyster, Kiwibank.
