Grant Thornton New Zealand Ltd is a chartered accountancy firm offering a range of accountancy and business advisory services to its clients. We are in an exciting growth phase, as we become trusted growth advises to dynamic NZ businesses. Our offices are based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, with this role being based in our Auckland office.

Description of Position

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover a period of parental leave. The key responsibility of this role is to provide sound HR advice and support to the partners, managers and staff. As a true generalist role this could include advice and support with performance reviews, remuneration, employment relations, induction and exit processes, recruitment (including graduate), international secondments, training and development and health & safety along with rolling out national HR projects. The hours of the role are Monday - Friday 8.30am to 5.00 pm, however longer hours are needed through exceptionally busy periods like graduate recruitment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

This role offers plenty of variety and would suit someone who has a sound understanding of HR issues and employment law, and wishes to further develop their HR career. Ideally you will have at least 2 years’ experience as a HR Adviser or in-house recruitment consultant looking to expand your career.

• Sound understanding of HR issues and NZ employment law
• polite and professional telephone skills
• excellent written and interpersonal skills
• superb organisational and time management skills
• client focussed with a professional approach to dealing with people internally and externally
• knowledge of Microsoft office including word, excel and outlook.
