Description of Organisation
Vend is a hot tech startup that is experiencing phenomenal growth - going from 4 to 25 people in just over 12 months. We build retail web-based point of sale and inventory management that retailers love to use.
Our Auckland office space is top floor, central Parnell. It is all glass and open, and shiny with views over the harbour and Auckland domain. We don't do cubicles, just plenty of space, whiteboards and meetings rooms.
Our SoMa office in San Francisco is located in the middle of the SF tech scene, just a (Biz) stone's throw from Twitter
We want you to be at the top of your game. You can wear whatever clothing you like, start work late in the morning, and play foosball or video games whenever you need a break
Description of Position
We need a part time HR Advisor who will also take some responsibility around Office Admin (and potentially lots of other stuff too). This role will involve about 20 hours per week, hours and days are negotiable but ideally we would like to see your face in the office somewhere between 10am - 3pm at least four days a week.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Put in place an HR structure that is appropriate for a tech startup, around recruitment and selection, induction, appraisals, performance, induction, remuneration.......you get the idea, pretty much the whole lot :-)
Coach managers on how to get the most out of their people and how to use the systems you have just set up.
Take care of the administrative side of HR such as administering the HRIS and employment agreements.
Anything HR related will be your responsibility.
We need someone who has absolutely superb communication skills - written, verbal, non verbal, etc, with a proven track record of innovation.
We want someone who doesn’t wait to be told to do something - initiative should be your middle name. Obviously you will need to be a great team player and because there's not much hierarchy here at Vend, its best if you can work well in a flat management structure.
You will need to show us that in the past you have delivered on stuff, whilst managing to maintain a balance between work and the other important things in life. And finally because none of us would have jobs without the customer, a total customer focus is essential.
Ideally you should have 2-3 years generalist HR experience within similar-ish (or at least small) company.

You will need to have a good knowledge of how to set up, maintain and roll out HR systems, plus have a proven capacity at coaching managers on HR best practice.
A qualification could be tip the balance in your favour but experience, cultural fit and a go-getter attitude are more important to us.
