Coaching Using Positive Psychology

Date Time Presented by Registration
3 May 12.00pm - 1.00pm John Eatwell, Strategic HR Fully Booked

Organisational coaching is generally focused on bringing out the best in someone or improving a weakness. Thus, positive psychology (which focuses on strengths and adopts a strengths approach to weaknesses) is at least complementary to all coaching efforts, and critical to many. Rather than representing a 'fluffy' approach, positive psychology is well supported in research for the benefits it provides to the individual and the organisation. This webinar will show you ways to adapt your organisational coaching to incorporate positive psychology techniques.

What would participants gain from attending the Webinar?

  • Enhanced understanding of the philosophy of positive psychology

  • New ways to think about the practice of coaching

  • Some specific techniques which can be incorporated in coaching (and which are useful for you too!)

Presented by John Eatwell, Strategic HR

John has been extensively involved in leadership development programmes for current and up and coming staff through to Executives. He is passionate about leadership (and its impact on engagement) and in measuring consequences for the organisation, using technology to improve service delivery and in creating real change in organisations that is in line with strategic direction.
John has worked with a number of organisations to define successful leadership and run Executives through Development Centres and working with them on development plans. He has created Leadership development programmes, taking individuals from first appointment through the first five years of their leadership journey including induction, transition to management, core leadership and management skills and development of the depth of their knowledge through further study. He also facilitates Positive Leadership and Leaders Coach Programmes with Executives through to front line leaders.

John has over 20 years experience, starting his career in consulting in Health as a sole trader and then with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Management Consulting in Hamilton. He then joined SHL New Zealand in the Senior Management Team in Auckland, opening the Wellington and Christchurch offices and building these to over half of the company revenue. He then had 10 years as a Senior Manager at Airways Corporation of New Zealand, leading teams of professionals in the delivery of generalist HR as well as specialist services. In the course of his career he has delivered projects in Australia, Dubai, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Saudi Arabia, Vanuatu, Venezuela, United States and the United Kingdom. He is currently Director of Strategic HR and Director of Professional Affairs of the New Zealand Psychological Society.
