HR Foundations is a three day programme designed for HR Practitioners who may be early on in their careers after studying and acquiring qualifications, or for those who are currently in HR roles and who want to extend their knowledge of leading edge HR practice. This programme is a helpful step for those aspiring to become Chartered members of HRINZ.

The programme is based on the HRINZ competencies (derived from global HR Competency research of Professor Dave Ulrich) and examines each practical HR area within the 'HR Delivery' competency. Participants are provided with foundational information on the major HR functions, learn to identify current good practice, and are encouraged to share their own experiences and to learn from others.

Topics covered in the three day programme include:

  • Resourcing
  • Learning and Development
  • Performance Management
  • Change Management
  • Organisational Development
  • Legal Compliance and Employment Relations
  • Remuneration and Reward
  • Cultural Awareness and Diversity Management
  • Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • HR Measurement and Policy Development

A workbook containing information and exercises is provided. The programme is informed by current research and was fully revised and updated in 2017.

I will be sending a new employee to the next course. I think it is a confidence builder and also gives a good overview on WHY we do certain things, which in the early stages of a career are not always obvious. Director, Boost Productive People Ltd.

The presenter was GREAT! Absolutely made the course awesome!!! 100% would recommend, as the course name suggests "foundations" it is a great place for somebody to start. To get a little feel for each topic. Recruiter, Fulton Hogan.

She was professional and funny and so incredibly full of experience and knowledge! We had a great group of trainees and Denise treated us all equally and fairly, she moved around the room and ensured eye contact with each and every one of us. I cant fault her at all. This was by far the most effective course I have ever attended. To be perfectly honest, the course as a whole was incredibly valuable. It really helped me highlight the shortcomings in my organisation and has motivated me to really start progressing in HR as a career. Staffing Coordinator, QPAM

Travelling from out of town?

In response to member demand we are introducing a trial offering for our 2019 March course offerings.

Our new Travel Discount is available for those members in provincial centres who have to travel to attend one of our professional development courses.

As a rule of thumb if you have to travel far enough to book a flight/hotel room to be able to attend the course, HRINZ will offer you a course discount to assist with these costs: $600 for 3 day courses. To enquire about this discount or if you're unsure about eligibility please contact us.

This has been introduced as an initiative which will hopefully enable our members in regional areas to attend our excellent workshops! We will evaluate this offer in March to see whether we can extend it into other courses in 2019.

The travel discount is not available for non-members.
