More than ever employers are embracing new technologies and allowing employees to work more flexible and remotely. This session will cover the legal framework of requests for flexible work and working remotely, including specific issues for consideration including health and safety, confidentiality and recommended contractual provisions.


Presented by Carl Blake and Rebecca Rendle

Carl is a senior associate in the Simpson Grierson's employment law group. He provides strategic advice on all aspects of employment law, including corporate restructures, sales and purchases of businesses, personal grievances, employment agreements and policies, health and safety, human rights and privacy, accident compensation, and collective bargaining.

Carl regularly attends mediations on behalf of employers and has appeared before the Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court and Court of Appeal. His previous work experience at the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and Human Rights Commission, gives Carl a broad understanding of ACC issues affecting employers and compliance issues with legislation, such as the Human Rights Act and Privacy Act.

Carl is a regular speaker at national employment law conferences and contributes regularly to leading business publications on employment law issues.

Rebecca is a senior associate in Simpson Grierson's employment law group. She is experienced in advising employers and employees on all aspects of employment law including personal grievances, the Holidays Act, the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act, privacy, medical incapacity, restraints of trade, poor performance and employment agreements and policies. She regularly attends mediation conferences and has contributed to external publications on employment law matters.
