This update will be hosted by Jessie Lapthorne, Partner and Caitlin Sargison, Senior Solicitor at Duncan Cotterill. You’ll hear about upcoming legislative changes that may impact your organisation and get to hear about significant cases or trends currently impacting employers.

Specifically, Jessie and Caitlin will be discussing:

 

  • Trial periods (refresher on how to ensure the trial period is used correctly and some of the issues arising from the change in legislation)
  • Recent cases:

Cronin-Lampe v Board of Trustees of Melville High School (duty of care and remedies);

* Parker v Magnum Hire (bullying and constructive dismissal claim and ERA approach to remedies) ; and

* Others

 

There will also be time for questions and answers.

Cancellation Policy

An appropriate substitute participant is welcome any time before the webinar starts. Please let us know the replacement's name. If you have booked on a member price and a non-member is to attend in your place you will be invoiced for the difference in price.

A refund of fees will be made if a cancellation is received in writing at least 10 working days prior to the commencement of the webinar.

Regrettably, no refunds can be made for cancellations received after this date and you are liable for the full cost of attendance at the webinar.

Presenter Details

Jessie Lapthorne
Jessie Lapthorne

Jessie is a partner in the employment and health and safety team and is based in Auckland. She has 20 years’ experience as an employment law specialist, in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Jessie is an experienced litigator, regularly appearing in the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court. Jessie’s expertise spans the full spectrum of workplace law, including disciplinary and performance matters; restructuring and redundancy procedures; personal grievances; restraint of trade disputes; protection of confidential information; health and safety; and human rights issues; where her input ranges from front-end guidance, to dispute resolution and advocacy.

Caitlin Sargison
Caitlin Sargison

Caitlin is a Senior Solicitor in the Employment and Health and Safety team at Duncan Cotterill. She works closely with employer clients – both large organisations and small businesses – to advise on a range of matters including disciplinary and performance processes, maintaining ongoing employment relationships, and assisting with the defence of Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court claims. Caitlin also has experience assisting employee clients in raising concerns and negotiating exits and settlements.
