This program will be run virtually via Zoom over two weeks:

  • Tuesday 21 May (12:30-5pm)
  • Thursday 23 May (12:30-5pm)
  • Tuesday 28 May (12:30-5pm)
  • Thursday 30 May (12:30-5pm)

How do you plan for the future of your workforce, when the future is uncertain? Strategic Workforce Planning is the discipline that allows organisations to make decisions today to identify, build, and support a workforce that is a true enabler of the organisations’ strategy and vision. It involves measuring what’s working (history), understanding where your workforce is heading (trajectory), and making decisions in the face of uncertainty (agility).
The program introduces the discipline and principles of Strategic Workforce Planning, provides detailed case studies and examples of each part of the methodology, and demonstrates approaches that will allow the participants to contribute in a very tangible way to organisational success.
Attendees are equipped with the framework and tools to begin a best practise Strategic Workforce Planning initiative in their own organisation, and will have an opportunity to network with peers on the challenges facing modern organisations in a time of unprecedented change.
Attendees will learn how to:

  • Align workforce strategy to organisational strategy;
  • Identify where targeted HR Initiatives deliver the highest strategic return on investment;
  • Perform organisational analysis using workforce analytics;
  • Identify and take advantage of the workforce, consumer, and economic dynamics shaping the organisation of tomorrow;
  • Exploring alternate futures through strategic futuring and scenario planning;
  • Close the gaps between the workforce of today and the preferred workforce of the future; and
  • Engage the business in workforce strategy.

The program contains 4 Live Virtual Sessions:
Session 1: Trajectory
In this session, we’ll introduce the Strategic Workforce Planning framework, and deep dive into the Segment and Analyse sections of the framework. Participants will learn how to uncover opportunities and challenges in today’s workforce, successfully segment their workforce to find deep insight, and perform a qualitative analysis of their workforce as it is today.
Sessions 2 & 3: Opportunity
In these sessions, participants learn the Scan and Explore sections of the framework, applying the principles of Futures Thinking to identify changes in the Future of Work and their organisations, and to create multiple future scenarios.
Session 4: Strategy
In the final session, participants identify their ideal future workforce - the one that is both able to effectively execute today’s strategy, and agile enough to respond to change and uncertainty. They will also explore how to close the gaps between current and future workforce needs, determine actions, and discuss how to structure and communicate the Strategic Workforce Plan.
