Many New Zealand employers are confused about how to calculate holiday and leave entitlements resulting in underpaying more than 700,000 employees.
Avoid repayments and penalties for payroll blunders by paying your employees correctly every time they take paid leave.
Course Overview
If you manage staff leave entitlements or oversee the payroll in your organisation, this is your guide to the Holidays Act 2003.
Co-presented by an Employment Lawyer and Payroll Specialist, this practical course provides a comprehensive overview of holidays and leave entitlements.
Participants will gain an understanding of how to comply with Holidays Act 2003 to be a best practice employer.
Find out how to manage entitlements, including annual and public holidays, sick leave, family violence leave, bereavement leave, and alternative holidays.
Our Employment Lawyer will discuss how to manage staff requests for leave. Explore ways to budget for annual holidays to reduce leave liability.
Our Payroll Specialist will show you how to correctly calculate annual holidays and public holidays. Avoid payroll blunders with 5 tips for managing common payroll issues.
Participants will have questions answered, and will find out: When will staff be entitled to the new public holiday for Matariki? What is ‘otherwise a working day’ for public holidays? When can you “Pay as you go”?
This course will guide you on best practice, with case law updates on how to calculate annual holidays when staff receive commission, or public holidays when their pay varies.
We will consider the Taskforce Recommendations, so you can prepare for the upcoming overhaul of the Holidays Act (you will receive a complimentary recording of a webinar about those recommendations).
